Best fiends aplication art

During the application process to work at Seriously Digital Entertainment as a junior artist, I was tasked to do some assignments to proof my skill. I was going to make assets for the Best Fiends Stars -mobile game. They loved the images and I nearly got the job, but sadly the company had internal changes that prevented them from hiring me in the end. I was allowed to put these images on my portfolio.

The test was to see if I can match the games already set art style and follow the mobile friendly conventions. I had two weeks to make these, which was more than enough to get a hang of the style and polish these assets. I was not provided whit any design documents or art bible for the game. I was instructed to play the game and try to match the style, based on that. For the popup, I was encouraged to use my imagination, to make it as fun and attractive as possible. I was provided whit some popup images from the game, to use as a reference.

My task was to create an pop up advertisement for an in-game booster sale. I was provided whit the character images, the hammer, and UI buttons. I came up and drew the background, the frame, the rune stone, coins, and made it all coherent.
