Coven's Woe -2D Game

Coven's Woe is a 2d puzzle platformer with a horror theme. I was the art lead for the project, which lasted for 3 months.

I got to do art direction and control the art style and the visual look of the game, and it was so much fun! Also I got to be part of a lot of technical stuff on this one. Most of the time working with this project, I spend in unity and coordinating whit the programmers, producer and the artists in the project.

About the style;
The project was short and our team didn't have many artists, so the art style couldn't be too time consuming. I wanted to do something fast to do but still visually pleasing and crisp. A lot of people have said, that they liked the "Darkest Dungeon" style of the visuals. In reality the original inspiration for the heavy black coloring was Mike Mignola's work. I wanted there to be a lot of clear silhouettes against flat colors, so all kinds of gradients and hatching were meant to be kept at minimum. The amount of detail increased throughout the project, and the end result is gorgeous in my opinion.

Here is a layout of some of the assets I made. I also made and animated the monster characters and put together the visuals of the levels.

I created the player child character and rigged and animated her using Unity's 2d bone animation tools.
All the assets here were by me.
